SASE (Self Addressed Stamped Envelope)
What asshole came up with this? Seriously, he (of course only a guy could come up with something so damn ridiculous) must have been sitting on his leather executive chair dreaming of ways to hold on to his client's money and the bright idea came to mind: "When I have a check that I need to mail out, instead of just covering the cost of the postage (currently 45 cents), I will email and/or call my client and ask her to drive to my office to pick it up. And of course if she'd like for it to be mailed as soon as we print it, she could just give us a stack of SASEs." Now, that's brilliant!
So, let me get this straight: I'm paying you 10, 15 or maybe 20 percent commission and you can't freaking' mail out my check because the additional $.45 would affect your bottom line. What planet are you living on? Whatever you're smoking, please share! Do you not respect and or value our relationship enough to cover the cost of a first class stamp? In other industries, they consider it a "cost of doing business." What would we call it in this Chicago Acting Community? B***S*** I'm curious, does this happen in the LA or NY market?
I think it's time this archaic practice is put to rest! I understand the need to protect your bottom line. I'm a small business owner as well as an actor. But can't you help shorten the already abused payment timeline for talent by just dropping the check in the mail.
Welcome to the 21st century!
